Once upon a time there was a beautiful and fair maiden, and so wonderful and pure was she that she made the evil Witch burn with rage and envy, and inspired strong and brave Heroes to risk their lives to protect her by any means necessary. This is the most classic story that has ever been told, in many different ways, by many different people, and yet each time it is told it touches our hearts anew and fills us with wonder and inspiration.
The wisest people understand that fairy tales are powerful because they tell us the truth about the world in its most distilled and potent form, through mythical images that can be passed on from generation to generation unadulterated and pure. Unlike the machine, the human mind understands the world through stories, not through lists, and not through databases.
One of these truths that is so crucial to understand is that the Evil Witch is very much real. Her devices and her envy form the fabric of feminism and every single modern “Retelling” of fairy-stories in order to corrupt and pervert them to show herself in a better light. It never works, however. No one resonates with lies. Lies in fairy tales always fall flat to a human audience. The other truths are that the beautiful fair maiden and the strong and good hero are also real. They are in our midst and only need reminding of who they are and what they are capable of. Many of you are probably reading this essay right now. Here, let me remind you dear ones.
