Is there wisdom in being black-pilled? Is being white-pilled a healthy delusion? What is the best way to strike a balance between these extremes of pessimism and optimism, especially when you’ve got a family to think about?

I have been reading a book recently called Doctor Zhivago written by Boris Pasternak in the 1950s. This book is about a handful of families trying to survive the Russian Revolution in the 1910s. I recently read this passage from the book and it really struck me:
