In the second century AD, the gnostic heresy proposed the idea that the body and soul are separate entities and this heresy is the very foundation of trans-humanism and transgenderism today. In so far as the digital realm separates the mind and spirit from physical actions and the body, digital existence also presents a version of this gnostic heresy in modern existence. The impulse to resist this heretical and erroneous divorce between body and soul, is the impulse toward the analog, away from the digital.
